THE GLEN - Cafι Chef

Robinsons Bookshop is not just one of Australia's oldest independent bookshops it is also a unique and special place in the hearts of booklovers. Robinsons is a family owned business established in 1963 with 12 stores across Melbourne, Tasmania and the ACT. Our new concept store at The Glen will include a bar and cafι, making it a great place to meet and mingle, or enjoy a book over a coffee! We are now looking for that special individual with a passion for making a difference in our dynamic and progressive workplace.

We are seeking a chef whose strength is in volume pastry and sweets and is up for the creative challenge of taking a book themed menu to the next level. Robinsons aims to offer good food done well and create a unique experience for customers by pairing a love of both food and books. Whilst a draft menu has been developed there is lots of scope to be creative and have input into a starting menu for a new concept that has the opportunity to grow to several locations.

- Hold a current Food Safety Supervisor Certificate and VIC RSA
- Previous experience as a pastry chef and managing a commercial kitchen

- Assist the Cafι Manager in overseeing the smooth operations of the cafe and kitchen

POSITION DESCRIPTIONS - BOOKSELLER ROLES + JUNIOR STOCKISTS


JUNIOR CASUAL BOOKSELLERS

We are currently looking for junior casual booksellers (junior award pay rates apply) to join the Robinsons family. The ideal candidate will be someone who is passionate about books and wants to be the best at everything they do. Previous bookselling experience is preferred. Previous retail experience is also an advantage. You will work as part of a small team and as such must be reliable, honest and hard-working. You must love customer interactions and be willing to learn the intricacies of the book industry. You must be available for at least 2 shifts per week. SENIOR CASUAL BOOKSELLERS

We are currently looking for experienced casual booksellers to join the Robinsons family. The ideal candidate will be someone who is passionate about books and wants to be the best at everything they do. Previous bookselling experience is mandatory. You will work as part of a small team and as such must be reliable, honest and hard-working. You must love customer interactions and be willing to learn the intricacies of the book industry. Candidates must have weekday availability (Monday - Thursday). JUNIOR STOCKISTS - Highpoint, Emporium, Chadstone

Robinsons Store stockists assist the store with various aspects of stock management over Christmas when we need extra pairs of hands. This includes unpacking, stickering, organising and also shelving stock in the correct place in the store. Generally stockists will work outside of store trading hours and there will be minimal contact, if any, with customers. Depending on volumes of stock arriving there may occasionally be work during trading hours. Typical shifts will be 7am-10am each morning, 6-9pm or 9pm-midnight. Stockists are to provide fast, efficient and accurate processing of incoming stock.
